New and effective gas scrubber for Belgian producer

A Belgian Company that provides roof covering for flat roofs needed their gas scrubber to be replaced urgently. The company uses the scrubber to treat bituminous oil gases. Those contaminated gases come from their production where roof covering is made.

PCA was immediately on the spot to develop and supply a new scrubber for this project!

How does a scrubber work?

Several processes take place in the gas scrubber to wash the contaminated gases as efficiently as possible. In the lower part, the air to be treated is let in, while the washing liquid is sprayed in the upper part. In this way, the gas and washing liquid can come into contact with each other optimally to allow the scrubber to do its job. Therefore, a vertical gas scrubber was used, which works on the principle of gas-liquid counterflow.

An oil layer is  formed in the scrubber, which is then collected and enters the customer’s oil recovery system.

A very effective way to recycle contaminated gases!

A few technical specifications

PCA supplied a scrubber with some impressive technical specifications:

  • Air flow rate: 40.000 m³/h
  • Recirculation flow rate was increased from 80 to 120 m³/h
  • Original PPH was replaced by PPUV on the outside. This provides better protection against UV light.
